Resentment has been brewing in Dehra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over recent appointments in Dehra block party organisation. Sources here said that the BJP workers from Dehra are sore over appointment of supporters of former MLA Hoshiar Singh as office bearers in Dehra block BJP.

Former minister and senior leader of BJP Ramesh Dhawala has lent his voice to disgruntled BJP leaders of Dehra.

Ramesh Dhawala has been alleging that some leaders, who were not even primary members of the BJP, have been appointed as office bearers in Dehra block BJP. He said that the way BJP workers from Dehra have been ignored in election or appointment of new office bearers of BJP in Dehra, they might be forced to form a parallel party organization in Dehra.

Ramesh Dhawala expressed his anger over the state leadership of the BJP for allegedly ignoring the old and committed leaders and workers of party from Dehra.

The sources here said that tiff between the old BJP workers of BJP from Dehra and supporters of Hoshiar Singh, who joined the BJP recently, has been brewing for quite some time.

Hoshiar Singh won as an independent from Dehra Assembly constituency in 2017 and 2022. In 2024 Hoshiar Singh resigned as independent MLA from Dehra and joined BJP. He resigned along with 6 Congress MLAs after voting in Himachal Assembly for BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan as a Rajya Sabha member. He then contested as BJP candidate in Dehra byelections in 2024 but lost to Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur and wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The sources here said that recognising the sacrifice of Hoshiar Singh, the BJP leadership has handed him command of Dehra block of the BJP. His supporters have been adjusted in party organisation from Dehra.

However, this has left the old BJP leaders from Dehra disgruntled. Some of them while taking to The Tribune said that they had been at loggerheads with Hoshiar Singh as independent MLA from Dehra.

Now there was no space left for them in the party organization as it was dominated with supporters of Hoshiar Singh. They were left with little options but to float an independent organisation in Dehra segment, they said.
