Several philanthropists are coming forward to support the District Red Cross Society, which aids the poor, helpless and the needy. Dharampal, a retired music lecturer of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Government College, Hamirpur, has donated Rs 1 lakh to the society. He is visually impaired but still has an exceptional knowledge of music. Many of his students have also served as music lecturers in various colleges of the state.
Dharampal (75), a resident of Bagchoki village in the Kuthehra area of the district, has generously donated money to help vulnerable communities. Amarlit Singh, Deputy Commissioner and president of the District Red Cross Society, thanked Dharampal for his noble gesture. He said, “The Red Cross Society always assists the poor, helpless and the needy. Common people can contribute from their honest earnings to make a difference to the lives of such people.” He added that Dharampal’s gesture would be an eye opener for others and would encourage people to contribute towards humanity through the Red Cross Society.
