Rotary Club distributes relief material to residents of fire-stricken Tandi village

After a fire hit Tandi village in Jibhi valley of the Banjar sub-division of the district, destroying 17 houses and 6 cowsheds, and rendering 33 families homeless on the very first day of the New Year, the Kullu Rotary Club has stepped up to help the grief-stricken village.

Club president Anshul Prashar said members reached out to the residents of the village, donating 150 pairs of shoes, socks and other essential items to them.

It was very difficult to make up for the heavy losses, estimated to be around Rs 10 crore, however, “a pot can be filled drop by drop”, he added.

He said, “The initiative was not only aimed at providing immediate relief but also at giving the villagers a sense of hope and solidarity during these challenging times. Rotary Club Kullu has been an active supporter of various community welfare programmes and continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged and needy.”

He urged all organisations to contribute to the noble cause. As the village recovers, the generous gesture by Rotary Club and various other donors has provided the much-needed relief to those affected.

Various other relief materials such as jackets and ration also being provided by other social organisations.

The organisation assured continued support to the community to help recover from the disaster.

Rotary Club Kullu founder members — VK Kapoor, Anuj Malik, Abhishek Sood and Lalit Kumar — were among those present during the distribution of the relief material. The villagers thanked the Rotarians for their generous gesture.
