Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur on Sunday said Rs 7.25 crore had been sanctioned by the Indian Railways for the construction of second platform at Una and Amb railway stations and foot overbridges connecting the platforms at the two stations.
The MP said Rs5.9 crore would be spent on the platform and foot over-bridge at the Una station, while Rs1.35 crore would be spent at the Amb station.
He said a portion of the hillock where the second platform would come up had to be cleared in Una.
He said the length of platform number one at the Una station had also been proposed to be extended by spending Rs12 lakh, for which the funds had been sanctioned. The two foot over-bridges would be 3.15-metres wide each.
Quoting senior railways officials, Thakur said once the platforms were ready, trains presently terminating at Chandigarh and Nangal Dam railway stations would be extended to Una and Amb.
He said the work on the laying of broad gauge track between Una in HP and Talwara in Punjab for its connectivity with the Jalandhar-Pathankot section had been completed till Daulatpur Chowk in Una district.
He said Rs8 crore for the completion of the pending rail track from Daulatpur Chowk to Marwari, the last village in the state on the track to Talwara, had also been sanctioned.
He said Chintpurni Marg and Daulatpur Chowk stations were ready for inauguration. Survey on laying of Una to Hamirpur rail tack had been completed and Rs 2,850 crore had been spent.
