Rs1,000-cr MoU inked for luxury resort

SHIMLA: The Himachal government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nomisma, Banking and Financial Advisory, Nilgiri Trading for development of luxury resort with prime focus on destination wedding for an amount of Rs 1,000 crore.

Shimla, June 25

The Himachal government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nomisma, Banking and Financial Advisory, Nilgiri Trading for development of luxury resort with prime focus on destination wedding for an amount of Rs 1,000 crore.

The delegation of the state led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also signed MoUs with M/s MKS Group for investment in naturopathy resort worth Rs 100 crore and affordable housing worth Rs 150 crore, a release issued here today said.

Another MoU was signed between the Himachal Government and the UAE India Business Council for highlighting investment opportunities in the state. UAE India Business Council is the official joint business council set up by the governments of India and UAE for promoting economic synergy between the two countries.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur apprised the Secretary General of Ministry of Economy, United Arab Emirate (UAE) Jamal Al Jarwan about the immense investment potential available in the state in various sectors like food processing, logistics, tourism and power etc.

Jamal said the UAE was looking at India for investment in food processing, logistics and infrastructure. He appreciated that currently India and the UAE are doing 60 billion dollar trade and the UAE Government was endeavouring to make it to 100 billion dollars. He also confirmed that the UAE would participate in Global Investors Meet being held at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister also met Chief Executive Officer Jafza and DP World Mohammed Al Muallem who said that his group was seriously looking forward to invest in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in the areas of logistics and transportation, besides export and import of agriculture and horticulture produce.

Earlier, addressing the members of Himachali community at Dubai during his maiden visit to United Arab Emirate (UAE) yesterday Thakur said that Himachali diaspora has made a special contributions in development of the UAE.

Himachali people have not only made a name for themselves in business world but had also made immense contributions in fields like medicine and engineering, he added.
