Rural Haat to be set up in Hamirpur
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) will establish a Rural Haat (Apni Mandi) in the town to provide a business platform to farmers of the district. This was decided in a meeting chaired by Sub Divisional Magistrate Sanjit Singh here today.
He said that necessary formalities would be completed by the APMC for the establishment of the Rural Haat.
Notably, APMC chairman Ajay Sharma had proposed to establish Rural Haat for marketing the sale of products of farmers and had requested Deputy Commissioner for the establishment of the haat.
Sharma took further action and informed Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh. Ajay Sharma said that the objective of the scheme was to encourage local producers, farmers and self-help groups to increase their income and to provide them means of livelihood.
He said that the scheme would benefit farmers and they would get a good price for their produce by selling it directly to the consumers in the town without going to the marketing agents in the ‘sabzi mandi’.
Tehsildar Subhash Kumar, APMC secretary Aruna Sharma, executive officer of Municipal Council Ajmer Singh and Junior Engineer of PWD Mahesh Gautam were also present at the meeting.
