Sainik School Sujanpur Tira girls clinch national U-17 football title

The girls football team of Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, won Under -17 All India Football Championship (Pre-Subroto Cup 2026) that concluded at Sainik School, Kodagu, in Karnataka today.

Displaying exceptional skill, teamwork, resilience and determination the young footballers defeated Sainik School, Chandrapur, in the final match with 3-2. A closely contested match ended in a stalemate, while the girls of Sujanpur Tira took the lead in a penalty shootout by securing a thrilling 3-2 victory to emerge as national champions.

The championship trophy was presented to the victorious team by Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, during the prize distribution ceremony. Adding glory to the victory Cadet Pryanshu Choudhary of the team was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Group Captain Rachna Joshi, Principal, Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, said the triumph stands as a testament to the team’s unwavering dedication, rigorous training and indomitable spirit. She added that with this victory Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, had emerged as champion among 33 Sainik Schools and 78 Sainik Schools being run through the PPP mode. She lauded the players and coaches for their hard work, discipline and perseverance. She said the victory reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing sporting excellence and inspiring cadets to realise their potential.
