Solan, April 14
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar today said that the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was the first attempt at decolonising education in India. He added that the NEP should be implemented in the right earnest.
The Governor was presiding over the 175th foundation day celebration of The Lawrence School, Sanawar. The year-long celebrations began with the Governor releasing a medallion.
He later addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the NEP in redefining the future course of education in India. A special assembly was held in the school that was attended by the Board of Governors and alumni.
The Governor also released two publications, a year book titled “The Sanawarian” and “Sanawar: A Handbook”. The Khetarpal stadium of the school wore a festive look while school students presented a gala performance. Brig IS Cheema, an alumnus of the school, was the chief guest of the evening. He released the School Newsletter and complimented students for putting together a spectacular show of PT, gymnastic skills, band performance and an Indian classical dance.
Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon delivered the vote of thanks and gave an account of the efforts made by the school to implement the NEP.
