In a sensational case, Bhagat Ram Saini, owner and principal of Shiwalik Science Senior Secondary School, Kharuni, in Nalagarh subdivision, was brutally murdered at his residence on Sunday night. His family members, including his wife and son, were also attacked with rods and sharp-edged weapons leaving them grievously wounded by unidentified masked assailants.
According to Superintendent of Police, Baddi, Rani Bindu, the assailants broke open the locks of the main gate of the school with the help of gas cutters and gained access into the principal’s residence located inside the school premises. The family members were tied and beaten up brutally with rods and sharp-edged weapons. Saini’s wife, who sustained grievous injuries, has been referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, after being given preliminary treatment at a local hospital.
Bhagat Ram’s son Gaurav Saini was also beaten up and left tied in another room. He told the police that unidentified masked assailants, four in number, entered their residence and attacked the family members.
The police were informed about the incident on Monday morning following which senior officials reached the spot to investigate the case. A team of forensic science experts was also requisitioned to collect forensic evidence from the spot. The police were yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack though some jewellery was found scattered inside the house. The assailants appeared to have conducted a recce prior to the attack as they were well versed with the area and managed to escape conveniently after attacking the family. It was still not known whether cash and valuables were missing from Saini’s house. The police were also scanning the CCTV footage. The area has been cordoned off by the police. According to the FIR registered, Gaurav Saini, stated that miscreants took away his gold chain, silver bracelet from him and cash was also stolen from his parents room. They brandished a pistol and tied him to a chair and after looting they fled from the spot at 5am.
