Himachal scientists make villagers aware of farm technology

A team of scientists from the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, visited Kusunpur village in Kendrapara district of Odisha from February 8 to 10 under the CSIR Smart Village Mission Mode Project. The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” and aims to promote sustainable development and self-reliance in rural areas.

Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director, CSIR, told reporters that during the visit, the team engaged in extensive interactions with villagers, anganwari workers, gram panchayat representatives, members of the Nature’s Club, teachers and students. The objective was to explore opportunities for strengthening rural livelihoods and identify strategic avenues for the dissemination of advanced scientific technologies at the grass-roots level. The programme featured technical lectures, exhibitions and live demonstrations showcasing the transformative technologies developed by the CSIR-IHBT.
