Former Himachal Chief Secretary P Mitra has reportedly withdrawn his consent for undergoing polygraph test in connection with alleged irregularities in granting permission to non-agriculturists to purchase land in relaxation of Section 118 of Tenancy and Land Reforms Act case, on the plea that he is unwell.
Mitra had expressed his willingness to hear the recording and the vigilance department has agreed to the request and the recording would be heard in the local court tomorrow.
The case pertains to alleged telephonic conversation between Mitra and a businessman regarding permission to purchase land in relaxation of Section 118 of the Act which barred all non-agriculturist, including bonafide Himachalis, from purchasing land in Himachal.
In the instant case, two businessmen have been accused of accepting bribe and passing it on to officer concerned and excerpts of audio recording are available with vigilance bureau.
The case against the said officer was registered on March 21, 2011 by the Vigilance Bureau under the sections of Prevention of Corruption Act on the basis of the statement of the two businessmen from Panchkula and Parwanoo, whose telephonic conversation was recorded with the said bureaucrat.
