UNA, OCTOBER 14

Una District Magistrate Sandeep Kumar on Wednesday notified the imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC in the district from October 17 to 24 in view of the Asooz Navratra Fair, during which a heavy rush of devotees is expected at the Chintpurni shrine from various parts of the country.

The carrying of firearms, except by security personnel on duty, will remained banned during the period. As per the notification, the use of public address system, except by the Chintpurni Temple Trust, will be banned in and around the shrine area. Besides, the use of brass bands and other musical instruments by devotees will not be permitted. If such instruments are found in the possession of devotees, these will be deposited at the police barriers on the entry points of the district.

He said nobody would be allowed to put up ‘langars’ on roadsides, use fire crackers or carry polythene bags. He said all devotees going to the Chintpurni temple would have to first register themselves at the designated computer counters set up by the temple trust as those without computer-generated slips would not be allowed “darshan”.

Kumar, who is also the chairman of the Chintpurni Temple Trust, has appealed to the devotees to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines such as wearing masks, maintaining hygiene and social distancing at all times. He said devotees should desist from travelling in trucks and tractors.
