Section 163 imposed around exam centres in Mandi ahead of NDA, CDS examinations

In view of the upcoming National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) (I) and Combined Defence Services Examination (I) examination 2026 to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on Sunday, April 12, Rupinder Kaur, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mandi, has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the examination.

According to official orders, the restrictions will remain in force from 8 am to 7 pm on April 12 in and around four designated examination centres in Mandi. These centres include Vallabh Government College Mandi (Sub Centre-001 and Sub Centre-002), Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Mandi (Sub Centre-003), and ITI, Mandi (Sub Centre-004).

The administration has strictly prohibited any form of social, cultural or political gatherings, including rallies, processions, raising slogans and strikes in the vicinity of these examination centres during the specified period. The move aims to maintain a disturbance-free environment for candidates appearing in the prestigious examinations.

In addition, the use of loudspeakers around the exam centres has been completely banned during the examination hours. Activities such as construction work, installation or removal of tents, stages or any other temporary structures have also been restricted to avoid noise and disruption.

The orders further state that no individual will be allowed to carry weapons, including firearms, sticks, ammunition, swords or any other hazardous objects within the restricted zones around the examination centres. These measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of candidates as well as the integrity of the examination process.

Officials have appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration and adhere to restrictions in the larger interest of maintaining law and order. The authorities emphasised that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the orders.

The NDA and CDS examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission are among the most competitive national-level tests, attracting thousands of aspirants every year. Keeping this in mind, the district administration has taken proactive steps to ensure a fair, transparent and peaceful examination environment in Mandi.
