Senior schools to have vice-principals

UNA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the nomenclature of postgraduate teachers in government schools would be changed to lecturers and a notification would be issued soon.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the nomenclature of postgraduate teachers in government schools would be changed to lecturers and a notification would be issued soon. 

He said the posts of vice-principal would be created  in all senior secondary schools. He also announced opening of Atal Adarsh Aavasiya Vidyalaya at Gehra Palata in Kutlehar. 

Thakur was addressing the fourth regional seminar of the HP Shikshak Mahasangh at Gondpur Banhera village in Una district. Laying stress on value-addition, he said education without value was disastrous for society. He said it became the duty of teachers to inculcate high moral values among students for a strong and vibrant society. 

The CM said despite being a small state, Himachal had been adjudged  the best in the education sector and the credit went to the teachers, besides better policies of the government. He said the country was once known as Vishva Guru and the tradition of ‘Guru Shishya’ was acclaimed by one and all but it was unfortunate that this tradition was vanishing. 

The Chief Minister said teachers should come forward to check the increasing tendency of cheating by  students during examinations. 

The CM said teachers should also come forward to check the ever-increasing drug menace. He said the teachers should keep an eye on the changing habits of their students.

Thakur announced funds for the construction of classrooms in senior secondary schools at Mubarakpur, Bedhara, Ghanaian and Block Education Office in Gagret. He also announced Rs 10 lakh for construction of a stadium at senior secondary school, Gondpur Banhera. 

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said teachers played a vital role in making society educated and enlightened.

Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Mahasangh office-bearers urged the Chief Minister to provide the benefit of 4-9-14 and restoration of old pension scheme. Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Health Minister Vipin Parmar and Gagret MLA Rajesh Thakur were also present. Mahasangh vice-president Jagvir Chandel, joint secretary Pawan Mishra and regional president Pawan Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
