Session on prisoners' reintegration

The Centre for Human Resource Development of Himachal Pradesh, National Law University, Shimla, in collaboration with the Institute of Correctional Administration (ICA), Chandigarh, organised a three-day outreach training programme on ‘Mandela Day: Prisoner Reintegration’ from July 4-6. Upneet Lalli, Head, Training and Research, ICA, gave a brief introduction about the training programme to the prison officers. Somesh Goyal, former DG Prisons, HP, gave insights about the prison-based rehabilitation framework. He informed the attendees about prison-based rehabilitation programme ‘Har Hath Ko Kaam Initiative’.

Students return from Kerala trip

Students of University Institute of Technology (UIT), HPU, returned from Kochi, Kerala, after a ten-day trip under the ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’ scheme. Pradeep Kumar, a faculty member accompanying the students, said it was a memorable experience. He added that the group visited Hill Palace Museum, where they acquainted themselves with the history of Kochi. They also visited other places such as Mahavishnu Temple, the Central institute for Fishery Technologies, Marine Drive and Fort Kochi, and enjoyed local cuisines.

SFI submits memorandum

The SFI submitted a memorandum to HPU Vice Chancellor regarding PhD admission on Thursday . The SFI alleged that there were several irregularities in PhD admissions such as giving admission to teachers who were employed in private colleges and didn’t fulfil the eligibility conditions. The SFI said if the admission to PhD was granted without clearing the entrance test, it would be unfair to students who had been working hard for the test.

HPPSC declares results

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has declared the result of personality test for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Engineer (Electrical) and Assistant Engineer (Civil) at E-2 level in the Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited. Both the posts are on contract basis.
