‘Set up Himachal regiment in Army’

The Union Government must fulfil the long-pending demand of the people of the state by establishing a Himachal regiment in the Army, said Capt Jagdish Verma (retd), chairman of the Ex-servicemen (JCOs and OR) of Himachal Pradesh, in Hamirpur on Thursday. He added that both serving soldiers and ex-servicemen as well as the general people of the state had raised the issue but it remained unaddressed.

He also urged the authorities to shift the Ex-servicemen League office to Hamirpur. He urged Director, Sainik Welfare, to take measures to resolve the issues of ex-servicemen. He said a memorandum of demands had been submitted to the officials concerned.
