Several commuters stranded on Shimla-Kangra national highway

KANGRA:The Shimla-Kangra national highway was blocked due to a landslide, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded, on Monday.

The Shimla-Kangra national highway was blocked due to a landslide, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded, on Monday. 

Subdivisional Magistrate of Kangra Seshi Pal Negi said the Kangra bypass remained blocked for three hours and was later restored for one-way traffic. The SDM said the loss suffered in the past three days had been put at Rs 2 crore. On Sunday night, 167.9-mm rain was recorded. Three houses in Abdullapur, Soura and Nandher were completely damaged and two others partially damaged. Six cowsheds were also destroyed. The Kangra-Nagrota road at Kalerd, Zamanabad-Dehrian road and Balogolva road were opened to traffic in the afternoon. The  Lunj-Salol road, however, remained blocked for the seventh consecutive day on Monday. The Kangra-Chandigarh national highway was flooded at several points.
