The report highlights that continuous snowfall since early morning has severely affected vehicular movement, particularly on highways connecting the region to neighbouring areas. Crucial routes such as the Darcha to Shinkula road and the Darcha-Sarchu stretch of National Highway-003 leading towards Leh have been completely closed due to heavy snow accumulation and unsafe travel conditions.

The Keylong to Darcha section and the Atal Tunnel (north portal) to Keylong stretch on NH-003 are also officially marked as closed. However, authorities have permitted limited movement of four-wheel-drive (4x4) vehicles and emergency services on these routes, depending on weather conditions and safety assessments.

The strategically significant Atal Tunnel to Manali road has also been shut for regular traffic. Only emergency vehicles equipped with 4x4 capability are being allowed to operate, underscoring the severity of the snowfall in the region. Similarly, routes connecting Atal Tunnel to Kuthbihal, Kuthbihal to Gramphu, and further from Gramphu to Palchan via Rohtang Pass remain completely closed until further orders.

Another major route, the Gramphu-Losar road via Kunzum Top, along with access to Chandertal, has also been suspended due to adverse weather conditions. Authorities have indicated that these routes will remain closed until weather improves and snow clearance operations are completed.

Amid widespread closures, a few routes remain accessible. The Tandi to Udaipur road is currently open, although the weather remains cloudy. Additionally, the Sumdo to Kaza stretch of NH-505 is open, while the Kaza to Losar road is operational despite light snowfall, requiring cautious driving.

However, the Udaipur to Tindi via Kadhunullah route has been closed as a precautionary measure due to changing weather conditions.

Officials have urged residents and travellers to avoid non-essential travel and strictly adhere to advisories issued by local authorities. Snow clearance teams are on standby, but operations remain dependent on weather stability.

The situation remains dynamic and further updates are expected as snowfall continues. Authorities are closely monitoring conditions to ensure public safety and restore connectivity at the earliest possible time.

According to Lahaul and Spiti SP Shivani Mehla, weather is inclement in the region. As a result, local residents and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary journey until the restoration of road connectivity in the region in view of public safety.
