Sheep, goats buried alive in Pangi

CHAMBA: Around 50 sheep and goats were buried alive under snow in Sechunala panchayat of Pangi subdivision in Chamba district during the recent heavy snowfall, an official spokesperson said here this evening.

Around 50 sheep and goats were buried alive under snow in Sechunala panchayat of Pangi subdivision in Chamba district during the recent heavy snowfall, an official spokesperson said here this evening.

The spokesperson said the Pangi SDM had directed the revenue officials to rush to the incident site and take stock of the situation. He said the incident had occurred about four days ago but was reported by the people of the area this evening.

The spokesperson further said the roofs of some houses were blown off by an avalanche. The Chanderbhaga river in the valley had been covered by heavy snow at certain points, he further said. — OC
