Shimla, August 31

To welcome new students, St Bede’s College, Shimla, organised a freshers’ event on the theme “The Indian Vogue”.

Principal Sister Molly Abraham welcomed former MP Pratibha Singh, the chief guest at the event.

The judges for the event were Dr Deepali Dhaul, Chairperson of the Department of English at Director Centre for Canadian Studies; Dr Kamayani Bisht, Principal, Fine Arts College; and Dr Kimi Sood.

The newcomers participated with immense enthusiasm. The highlight of the event was the talent hunt week, which was followed by freshers strutting on the ramp in beautiful attires.

The cultural performances included a semi-classical dance showcase, a Bollywood dance performance, a melodic medley, singing and beat boxing. Marbakor Janai Mukhim of the BA Geography (hons) course won the ‘Ms Freshers’ title. Riya Kanwar of Microbiology (hons) and Navya Mehta of English (hons) were the second and third runners-up, respectively.

The student council of the college, under the guidance of convenors Dr Gitanjali Mahendra and Dr Devina, organised the show.
