Shimla court rejects plea to stay demolition order of Sanjauli mosque’s unauthorised floors
The District Court in Shimla today rejected a plea filed by the All Himachal Muslim Organisation to stay the order of demolishing the top three unauthorised floors of the Sanjauli mosque. The mosque, located in the Sanjauli locality of Shimla, has been at the centre of controversy due to its unauthorised construction.
According to Praveen Garg, Additional District and Sessions Judge, the order passed by the Municipal Commissioner’s court will remain intact. This means that the demolition work will proceed as planned.
However, Muhammad Latif, president of Sanjauli Mosque Committee, has appealed to the Commissioner’s court to delay the demolition work due to the shortage of labour. Most labourers have returned to their native places, and the demolition work is also dependent on weather conditions during the winter months.
