Mayor Surinder Chauhan, during the Municipal Corporation’s monthly house meeting, directed SJPNL to restore regular drinking water supply across Shimla. Councillors voiced frustration over erratic supply in several wards and questioned delays in the Shakroli water scheme meant to enable 24x7 availability.
The corporation also decided to launch a unique identification system for 66,000 property owners, enabling access to tax and property details through QR-coded IDs offering 60 services from home.
On urban upkeep, the Mayor ordered swift repair of faulty streetlights, with 25–30 new lights to be installed immediately and a tender for 1,000 more already finalised. He further instructed the Forest Department to remove long-pending fallen trees and reviewed proposals to open new shops in Summer Hill and Boileauganj to raise municipal revenue.
