The Acting Deputy Commissioner of Sirmaur, LR Verma, has instructed all concerned departments to complete the ongoing development projects under the Scheduled Caste Development Programme by March 31. Emphasising the importance of timely execution, he directed officials to ensure that these projects benefit the public without unnecessary delays.

Verma was presiding over a review meeting held here today, organised by the District Welfare Department. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of various development initiatives for the SC communities in the district.

During the meeting, he highlighted that the Public Works Department has received the highest allocation of Rs 40.30 crore in the current financial year for the construction of roads and buildings. He urged the department to ensure that the funds are utilised efficiently and within the stipulated timeframe. Other significant allocations under the Scheduled Caste Development Programme include Rs 1.60 crore for the Agriculture Department, Rs 26 lakh for the Soil Conservation Department, Rs 66.66 lakh for the Higher Education Department for building construction, Rs 3.42 crore for the Jal Shakti Department to implement drinking water schemes, Rs 1.84 crore for the Forest Department and Rs 1.63 crore for the Health Department.

The Acting Deputy Commissioner also commended the Child Development Project for successfully achieving its 100 per cent target by utilising Rs 25 lakh for the construction of Anganwadi centres. He stressed that unnecessary delays in project execution lead to cost escalations and hinder public benefits. Officials were urged to ensure that work progresses as planned to avoid any setbacks.

District Welfare Officer Vivek Arora, who conducted the meeting, reported that Rs 2.20 crore had been allocated to the Welfare Department, out of which Rs 2.17 crore has already been spent, achieving 99 per cent of the target under various schemes.

The meeting saw the participation of senior officials from various departments, including the Public Works Department, Police, Higher and Elementary Education, ICDS, Horticulture and Agriculture. All departments reaffirmed their commitment to completing projects on time and ensuring effective fund utilisation for the welfare of the SC communities in Sirmaur.
