Sirmaur DC flags off ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign in Nahan
In a bid to promote cleanliness and raise awareness on the importance of sanitation, Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta flagged off a rally under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin’ in Nahan today. The event marked the commencement of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign with the DC administering the oath of cleanliness to those present on the occasion.
In his address, Khimta highlighted that Sirmaur district will be actively involved in the cleanliness drive from September 14 to October 2. The aim of the campaign is to instil a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness in every section of society and spread the message of sanitation across villages. He emphasised that keeping the country clean is everyone’s duty and that each step towards cleanliness contributes significantly to making India a cleaner nation.
He added that the campaign in Sirmaur aligns with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India, which is also a key component in the journey toward a developed nation. By adopting cleanliness, every individual can play a crucial role in achieving this vision, he said.
The event witnessed participation from District Development Officer Abhishek Mittal, Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, and officials and employees from various departments. The rally aims to encourage people across Sirmaur to take active steps towards maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in their surroundings, thereby contributing to a healthier and cleaner society.
