Snowfall and rain to continue in Himachal Pradesh till April 8; orange and yellow warnings issued for April 3

The state during the last 24 hours witnessed very light snowfall and rain in isolated parts of the state

Snowfall, hail and rainfall in Himachal Pradesh is set to intensify from April 3 onwards as the State’s Meteorological Centre has issued an orange weather warning for Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Mandi and Chamba districts for April 3, resulting in a heavy spell of hailstorms, thunderstorms along with lightning and gusty winds in isolated places of these districts.

Also, a yellow weather warning has been issued for Solan, Sirmour, Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur for April 3. As a result, these districts will be experiencing thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds.

Orange and yellow warnings have also been issued for these districts for April 4 as well, due to which intense showers will continue on Saturday as well. Additionally, a yellow warning has also been issued for the state till April 8.

The department has forecasted continuous snowfall, hailstorm and rain across the state till April 8. While minimum temperatures are expected to remain normal in the state, maximum temperatures are very likely to drop by 3°C to 5°C in the next three to four days.

Meanwhile, the state during the last 24 hours witnessed very light snowfall and rain in isolated parts of the state. However, the weather was mostly dry across the state.

Minimum temperatures were below 2°C to 4°C, ranging between 0°C to 20°C, while maximum temperatures across the state were normal and ranged between 11°C to 31°C.

Minimum temperature in Shimla was 11.6°C, Dharamshala 6.5°C, Manali 9.1°C, Kangra 15.8°C, Mandi 14.6°C, Solan 12°C, Bilaspur 15°C, Kalpa 5°C, Sundernagar 13.1°C, Bhuntar 11.5°C and Paonta Sahib 21°C.

The highest maximum temperature in the state was 31.6°C, which was recorded in Una, while the lowest minimum temperature in the state was 3.1°C, which was recorded in Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district.
