Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts has added renewed vigour to the tourism sector in and around Manali. The snowfall, which occurred yesterday in the scenic Lahaul valley, including areas near the North Portal of Atal Tunnel and Sissu along the Manali-Leh highway, has delighted tourists as well as tourism stakeholders.
Tourists were seen enjoying snow activities in the picturesque locations beyond Manali. Popular spots near the North Portal of the tunnel and Sissu village turned into vibrant tourist hubs as visitors gathered to experience the snowfall and scenic winter landscapes.
Hoteliers, travel operators and local businesses expressed optimism that the fresh spell of snow will attract more visitors to the region in the coming days. “Snowfall is one of the biggest attractions for tourists visiting Manali and the surrounding areas. After the fresh snowfall, we are expecting a significant rise in tourist footfall,” said Anup Thakur, former president of Manali hoteliers association.
Many hotels and guesthouses in the region are already witnessing an increase in inquiries and bookings from visitors eager to experience snow activities.
Yesterday, tourists were seen taking photographs, playing in the snow and taking part in recreational activities. Today as well, a large number of tourists moved towards the Atal Tunnel and Sissu from Manali to enjoy the snow. Several visitors travelled beyond Manali early in the morning to make the most of the fresh snowfall.
According to tourism stakeholders, the fresh snowfall is expected to further boost tourism in the region, which serves as a major economic driver for local communities. They believe that if the weather conditions remain favourable, Manali and nearby destinations could witness a surge in visitors over the coming days, providing a much-needed boost to the hospitality and travel industry in the region.
