Soldier from Nadaun martyred in Akhnoor

Subedar Kuldeep Chand sacrificed his life while fighting insurgents in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir last night. He was a native of Kohalwin village in Naduan subdivision of the district. He had killed three terrorists in the encounter before he was hit by a bullet.

Some terrorists reportedly tried to infiltrate into India from the Pakistan side and were spotted by a patrolling party. In the crossfire, Subedar Kuldeep was injured and was taken to the nearest health facility but he succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu mourned the death of the brave soldier. He said that the government would provide every help to the family of the martyr.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Majhiyar village in the Nadaun constituency to participate in the cremation of his cousin who died after prolonged illness. He also visited the house of Avtar Singh Katoch in Bela village who died recently near Nadaun. Katoch remained the ‘pradhan’ of Bela gram panchayat for about seven terms.
