Himachal Sports Minister issues show-cause notices to officials for not attending meeting
Yadvinder Goma says any official, who does not attend a meeting on medical grounds, must submit a valid medical certificate to the administration
Himachal Ayush, Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma has issued show-cause notices to senior officials who did not attend an important meeting of the District Planning, Development and 20-Point Programme Review Committee held at the School Education Board auditorium in Dharamsala on Monday.
Tension erupted when several senior officials did not attend the meeting without prior information.
The minister made it clear that negligence and sluggish progress in development works would no longer be tolerated. He directed the officials concerned that notices be served immediately on all officials who did not attend the meeting without intimation and sought written explanations for their absence.
He said that any official, who did not attend the meeting on medical grounds, must submit a valid medical certificate to the administration. He added that the era of slow-moving files and “paper formalities” in development projects must end.
Goma said that delay in development works and administrative negligence directly affected public welfare. “There will be zero tolerance to laxity in executing government schemes. Strict monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to ensure timely completion of projects,” he added.
The minister’s tough posture is being linked to his recent actions in Mandi, where he had also taken serious note of protocol violations and the absence of senior officials during an official function. Observers see the latest move as a clear message to the bureaucracy that discipline and responsibility would be non-negotiable under his watch.
