Stamp designer shares experiences

Sankha Samanta, who has designed more than 400 stamps of India, shared his experiences with youngsters and members of philatelic club, Himachal.



Sankha Samanta, who has designed more than 400 stamps of India, shared his experiences with youngsters and members of philatelic club, Himachal. He spoke about the stamps, his journey and the changes and challenges in stamp designing. President of the Himachal Philatelic Club  Major (Dr) Ritu Kalra  announced the dates  of INPEX-2019. The national stamps exhibition is being organised by the Philatelic Congress of India at the World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, from December 18 to 22. 

Sports day at Auckland House 

The middle section sports day of Auckland House School was held here recently. Brig Gaurav Sharma, HQ ARTRAC, was the chief guest. The programme began with an impressive march past by students. As many as over 300 participated in various events. Students of Class III mesmerised the spectators with their lezim drill, Class IV students performed various asanas and those studying in Class V presented aerobics. Class VI students enthralled everyone with their dumbbell display. The students participated in various events like karate, gymnastics, roller skating and relays. The chief guest praised the students and staff for showcasing a wonderful event. The marching cup and the sports shield was bagged by Lefroy House.  The Proficiency Cup was awarded to Durrant House. Principal of the school Sunita John thanked the chief guest and those present for gracing the occasion.

150th birth anniv of Mahatma Gandhi

The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will be celebrated in all schools in Himachal. Various programmes and activities will be organised from September 23 to October 2, including faith prayers,  Bhajans, dance, songs, skits, fancy dress, mono acting, cleanliness drive, speeches, debates, elocution, poems, essays, slogan writing, painting and drawing competitions, visits to museums and places associated with Gandhi, quiz and an exhibition on his life. The schools have been directed to conduct all  activities on a priority basis.

capacity building programme 

A two-day capacity building programme for English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, physical education and computer science teachers began at DAV Public School, Palampur, under the guidance of VK Yadav, ARO, HP Zone-D. As many as 60 teachers from eight DAV schools attended the programme and learnt new techniques in all subjects.
