Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Women holds maiden special court in Una
12 out of 28 listed cases heard
The Himachal Pradesh State Women’s Commission held its first district-level special court at the Mini Secretariat in Una on Monday, hearing various listed cases related to women’s harassment and domestic violence.
Commission chairperson Vidya Negi and members Saroj Sharma, Reena Pundir and Reena Daroch heard the complaints and issued necessary directions to the officers of the departments concerned to ensure quick and effective resolution of the cases.
Vidya Negi said that out of the 28 cases listed, 12 were heard, with both the petitioners and respondents present. Most of these cases involved domestic violence, workplace harassment, sexual harassment and harassment by family members. She said the commission will hold another court shortly to hear the remaining cases.
The chairperson said that providing justice to women is the commission’s top priority and that aggrieved women should feel free to contact the commission for any assistance. She added that the commission is going to hold such courts in all the district headquarters of the state.
Negi informed that as part of this initiative, a special court will be held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Dharamsala on February 11 and 12. She appealed to the public to come forward against incidents of harassment and cooperate in providing justice to victims.
Commission Member Secretary Bushra Ansari, Una Additional Superintendent of Police Surinder Sharma, Law Officer Yashpal Sharma and Sub-Inspector Jamaldeen from Women’s Police Station Una were also present.
