State to constitute food commission

SHIMLA: A food commission will be constituted in Himachal. Applications have been invited to fill one post of chairperson and two posts of member of the State Food Commission, Himachal Pradesh, a spokesperson for the government said here.

A food commission will be constituted in Himachal. Applications have been invited to fill one post of chairperson and two posts of member of the State Food Commission, Himachal Pradesh, a spokesperson for the government said here.

He said that those candidates can apply for these posts who are or have been member of the All India Services or any other civil services of the Union or state or holding a civil post under the Union or state having knowledge and experience in matters relating to food security, policy making and administration in the field of agriculture, civil supplies, nutrition, health or any allied field.

He said that persons of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience in agriculture, law, human rights, social service, management, nutrition, health, food policy or public administration can also apply for these posts. The candidates, who have a proven record of work relating to the improvement of the food and nutrition rights of the poor, can also apply.

He said the chairperson and members so appointed shall hold office for a term of five years or up to the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. The other terms and conditions shall be governed under The National Food Security Act, 2013 and The Himachal Pradesh Food Security Rules, 2019. Applications along with complete bio data must reach the office of the Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh latest by September 30.
