State witnessing overall development: Bindal

SOLAN: Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Rajiv Bindal while presiding over the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at the historic Thodo Ground here yesterday said the state was surging ahead with balanced and all-round development and the government was committed to make Himachal a clean and drug-free state.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Rajiv Bindal while presiding over the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at the historic Thodo Ground here yesterday said the state was surging ahead with balanced and all-round development and the government was committed to make Himachal a clean and drug-free state.

He took salute of an impressive parade display by the contingents of police, home guards and NCC cadets of various schools. Earlier, he paid tribute to martyrs at the Kargil Saheed Samarak.

He said under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur efforts were being made for all round development of the state. He said 30 new schemes were introduced in the first budget by the Chief Minister while 18 more were added in this year’s budget. He elaborated on the development initiatives of the state government and its various schemes.

The Speaker hailed Centre’s decision to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He said they should take a vow to integrate that segment of J and K with the nation which was with their neighbour.

He also honoured employees, students, sportsmen and other individuals who had excelled in their respective fields including a student Ojjas, a class IX student of Sainik School Sujanpur Tira, for his book on Clearing the Cosmic mess.
