PALAMPUR: The state government will soon set up a stray animal sanctuary in Kangra district.

Palampur, September 2

The state government will soon set up a stray animal sanctuary in Kangra district.

Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, former BJP MLA Parveen Sharma said 300 kanal had been identified for the project in the Badsar panchayat, near Palampur. No-objection certificates had already been obtained by his NGO, Insaf, from various agencies.

The sanctuary will have a capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 stray animals. It will be maintained and developed by the state government under a Centre-funded project.

Sharma also met Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in this regard in Shimla. — OC
