Tantrik arrested for raping minor girl

The police have arrested a tantrik for raping a minor girl in Mandi district today. The accused has been identified as Balbir Singh of Jogindernagar area in Mandi.

According to sources, the 16-year-old victim fell sick and her mother took her to the place of the accused for treatment through black magic. “For the first time, the victim was accompanied by her mother. Thereafter, she visited the tantric alone. The accused took her inside his room on the pretext of treatment and raped her,” the police said.

“The accused threatened the victim and asked her not to disclose it to anyone. He called her several times on the pretext of treatment and raped her repeatedly. The mother came to know when the victim complained of stomach pain and she was taken to a hospital where doctor told her she was pregnant,” the police said. The minor revealed her ordeal to her parents, who approached the police. Shalini Agnihotri, SP, Mandi, said the accused had been arrested under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. — TNS
