Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh Thakur yesterday said a target had been set in this financial year to provide 100 per cent functional household tap connections in Una and Kinnaur districts.
He was attending a video-conference with Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Mahender Thakur informed the Union minister about the work being done under the Jal Jeevan Mission and efforts being made to make tap water available to every household in the state.
The minister said during the half-yearly review meeting, a target had been set to provide functional household taps to 2,66,209 households during this financial year, so that those villages which had more than 70 per cent coverage were provided with water supply in every household.
During the current financial year, 100 per cent working household taps had been made available in Lahaul-Spiti district and in 5,081 villages of the state.
“During the current financial year, 100 per cent functional household taps have been made available at Kandaghat in Solan district, Pooh in Kinnaur district and Spiti and Lahaul development blocks in Lahaul-Spiti,” he said.
The minister said a target had been fixed to provide 100 per cent coverage for Una and Kinnaur districts by December, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Solan districts by June 2021, Mandi and Kangra districts by March 2022 and Shimla, Sirmaur, Chamba and Kullu districts by July 2022.
He said out of a total of 16,889 schools in the state, 16,478 had been provided with the drinking water facility and work on ensuring the same to the remaining 411 schools was in progress.
