Poonam Thakur, Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes and Excise (Enforcement) and nodal officer, Shimla, made Himachal proud by participating in the beauty pageant, ‘Mrs India-The Goddess’, and finishing as the first runners-up. Over 600 participants from across the country participated in the pageant held in Jaipur.

Thakur’s journey to the finale was marked by her knowledge and confidence. Balancing her responsibilities as a government officer, she showed remarkable discipline by grooming herself to the highest standards and embarking on a focused fitness journey.

Her contribution to social causes through her association with the Stree Welfare Foundation and the Cancer Free Mission of India earned her the coveted title of ‘Beauty with Purpose’. She was also acknowledged for her efforts in spreading awareness on cervical cancer prevention and vaccination.

Thakur’s elegance, poise and sense of fashion earned her the Best Dressed Crown, making her the holder of two titles at the pageant.
