Teacher booked under POCSO in Himachal's Sainj valley
Students of Class XI had alleged misconduct by history lecturer
A government school lecturer in Sainj valley has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following allegations of misconduct involving minor girl students, triggering outrage among parents and local residents.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on February 19 when a history lecturer allegedly called three Class XI students to his room. Two students were reportedly sent to prepare food in the kitchen, while the third was asked to iron his clothes. During this period, the teacher is accused of behaving inappropriately with a student and allegedly threatening her with serious consequences if she spoke about the incident.
The matter surfaced after the students informed the school principal. Acting promptly, the principal reported the complaint to the police. Based on the written complaint, the Sainj police registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and initiated an investigation.
Police officials described the case as sensitive and confirmed that statements of the affected students are being recorded. They said all aspects are being examined carefully and assured that action would follow the findings of the investigation.
SP Madan Lal Kaushal confirmed the registration of the case, stating that due process is being followed and that no leniency would be shown if the allegations are substantiated. He emphasised that the confidentiality and safety of the minors remain a priority.
