The Himachal Pradesh School Lecturers’ Association has opposed the proposal to create a separate cadre of teachers for CBSE-affiliated schools, arguing that it would create division in the education system.

While welcoming the move to affiliate 100 schools to the central board, the association has also questioned the decision to conduct a separate examination for the recruitment of teachers in CBSE schools. “Teachers have entered the service after undergoing selection examinations and have years of teaching experience, so it’s unfair to doubt their qualification,” said Himachal Pradesh School Lecturers’ Association state president Ajay Negi.

The union also demanded the implementation of a uniform transfer policy for all teachers so that congestion in any particular class or region is avoided and the system can run smoothly.

Furthermore, the association urged the government to take all teacher organisations into confidence before finalising any education-related policy or draft to avoid any confusion or dissatisfaction in future. — TNS
