Temple path caves in as rain triggers landslide in Himachal village

Heavy rainfall triggered a landslide in Bobri village under Shillai panchayat of Sirmaur district, leading to the collapse of a retaining wall built alongside a local temple and a pedestrian pathway. Though no casualties were reported, the incident has raised concerns over the safety of the temple and nearby houses.

The landslide occurred amid incessant rain in the Shillai Assembly constituency. A video of the retaining wall collapsing within seconds has gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the growing risks posed by monsoon-induced landslides in the region.

Local residents said the collapse has destabilised the hillside, posing a serious threat to adjoining residential structures and the temple. They urged the district administration to immediately construct a new retaining wall and undertake slope protection measures before further rainfall aggravates the situation.

Meanwhile, the district administration has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and stay away from rivers, seasonal streams and landslide-prone areas.
