Mandi: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur held a meeting with party workers at Bagsyad in Seraj of Mandi district to encourage party workers for the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing party workers, the CM stated that it was the duty of each party worker to reach the voter at the grassroot level and apprise them about the achievements of the state and Central Government. The party workers would have the responsibility to convince voters in favour of the BJP candidate, which will be decided soon. The CM said the governments had initiated several welfare schemes to benefit the common man. The BJP would ask voters to elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi again to strengthen the nation. Several Congress workers also joined the BJP in the presence of the Chief Minister. The Seraj Assembly segment is represented by Thakur. On Tuesday, the CM will visit Kullu district where he will gear up party workers. TNS
Door-to-door drive by BJP from March 23
Una: State BJP president Satpal Singh Satti today told party workers to get ready to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections from March 23, the day freedom fighter Bhagat Singh achieved martyrdom in 1931. He was addressing the workers at an orientation workshop in view of the ensuing elections. Satti said during the first phase of the election campaign from March 23 to April 6, the workers would undertake a door-to-door campaign in their areas and educate the people about the policies and achievements of the Modi government. During this period, the workers would also put up party flags and stickers, besides providing printed publicity material in each household. Satti said since the elections would be held on May 19, the workers had adequate time to reach out to every voter. OC
Deposit weapons, says Lahaul SP
Mandi: The district administration of Lahaul-Spiti has urged people to deposit their weapons in the nearby police stations in the wake of the Lok Sabha poll. SP Rajesh Dharmani said there were 658 weapon licence-holders. Of them, 70 had deposited their weapons in police stations. No person would be allowed to carry weapons. The last date to deposit these was March 23. TNS
