On the second day of The Tribune Edu Expo in Shimla, students from different schools learnt about the right ways to choose a suitable career path during a counselling session held on Thursday.
Career counsellor Aadi Garg, who served as the keynote speaker, shared insights into various career choices for students. He elaborated on different career opportunities and degree programmes that students can pursue based on their skill sets and interests.
Speaking about various career opportunities and courses, Garg said that humanities students can opt for designing, product design, the hospitality sector, economics, sociology, law and sculpting.
He added that commerce students can choose from BCom, BBA, MBA and integrated courses.
“Non-medical students can pursue chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, computer science, architecture and aeronautical engineering, while medical students can opt for paramedical courses, pharmacy, physiotherapy, etc.,” he said.
“Whatever career you want to pursue, you should prepare a blueprint for achieving success in it. The first person students should consider is themselves, the second is their parents, the third is their teachers and the fourth is a psychologist, who can help them choose a suitable career,” he added.
Emphasising the importance of making the right efforts, he said that the present is all about choosing the correct direction and having clarity.
“Your output depends upon your input, and students need to understand that the present shapes their future,” he added. The session concluded with a felicitation ceremony during which students were awarded certificates of appreciation.
