Three booked for religious fair in Kullu village


KULLU, AUGUST 29

The police have registered an FIR against three persons, including the Kardar of the Jogeshwar Mahadev deity, for organising the Rishi Panchami fair at Dalash in Anni subdivision of this district.

The fair was organised on August 26 and 27 and palanquins of Khodu Devta and Kui Kanda Nag Devta participated in the fair with hundreds of followers. The videos went viral on the social media, showing people not following social distancing during the event. Banjar DSP Binny Minhas said a case under Sections 188, 269 and 270 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act had been registered against the three persons for organising the fair without permission.

President of the temple committee Uttam Ram Thakur said some people, including the Kardar, insisted to hold the fair. — OC
