A boulder set off by a landslide in Meenas on Shillai-Gumma road on Monday morning crushed three people, officials said.

The landslide occurred during an ongoing highway widening project.

Those killed have been identified as Ashok Kumar, Kahn Singh, and Jitender. Singh was a driver of a vehicle that was standing nearby.

Two people operating road excavators were also wounded in the incident, Paonta Sahib Deputy Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur said.

The vehicle was on its way from Atahal to Dehradun.

Bahadur said the operator of one of the road excavators, whom he identified only as Irshad, has been missing since the incident.
