Three killed in road accident on Chandigarh-Manali highway

MANDI: A vehicle with six people on board fell into a deep gorge on the Chandigarh-Manali highway in the small hours of Sunday, killing three people.

A vehicle with six people on board fell into a deep gorge on the Chandigarh-Manali highway in the small hours of Sunday, killing three people.

The incident took place near Pandoh dam. The deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar and Sonipal, both residents of Lahda village in Chamba district, while Ajay Kumar belonged to Byagra village, also in Chamba.

Three other people— Arun Kumar and Sanjay Kumar from Biansla village in Chamba district and Manu Kumar from of Lahda village—were wounded in the accident, and were admitted to a hospital in Mandi, Superintendent of Police Mandi Gurdev Chand Sharma said.

Preliminary probe has reportedly pointed to possible negligence by the driver, sources said. Investigations are still ongoing.
