Three more drug peddlers arrested under PIT NDPS act in Shimla

All the accused have been sent to jail for three months, says Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh

Continuing its crackdown on illicit drugs supply chain, Shimla police today has arrested three more drug peddlers from multiple locations under Prevention of Illicit Traffic Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1988.

The accused have been identified as Inder Dev alias Danu (41), resident of Mandholghat under Sunni Tehsil, Shimla, Deepak Thakur (35), resident of Nav Bahar, Shimla, and Sanjeev Kumar alias Ghoda (34), a resident of Dhar village in Theog, Shimla.

Providing the information, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh said that the action has been taken under preventive detention to break the supply chain of drugs within the district by dismantling drug networks. He said that all the accused have been involved in drug peddling especially chitta and have been arrested on multiple occasions.

He said that Inder Dev has been arrested on four occasions with chitta and opium. “He was first arrested on October 12, 2022, from Shimla with 40.26 grams of heroin and 16.35 grams of opium. He was again arrested with 18.55 grams heroin in Shimla on June 28, 2023, and again in Zirakpur, Punjab, on October 25, 2024 with 60 grams heroin. He was last arrested with 2.47 grams of heroin from Solan district on December 11, 2025. Along with this, a total of 52 criminal cases have been registered against him in Himachal Pradesh and other states as well said the SSP.

“Similarly, two cases under NDPS act have been registered against Deepak which include a case registered in Police Station West Shimla on July 21, 2021, when he was nabbed with 64.34 grams heroin and on August 19, 2025, when he was arrested from Sanjauli area with 5.48 grams heroin,” he said.

“Sanjeev is also a habitual offender and was first arrested on September 4, 2020, from Dhalli with 1.03 grams chitta. He was again arrested on October 7, 2020, from Dhalli with 1.64 grams chitta and then on March 19, 2021, from Dhalli with 12.55 grams chitta. He was last arrested on November 30, 2025, from Dhalli with 2.29 grams chitta,” said the SSP.

He further said that all the accused have been sent to jail for three months and further investigation underway.
