Dharamsala, September 30
Nyima Tenzin, a soldier from the Special Frontier Force (SFF), who attained martyrdom recently during a pre-emptive operation carried out by the Army on the southern bank of the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh, was today honoured by Tibetans in McLeodganj.
Tenzin was a Tibetan serving in the Army. The Tibetans lit candles before the photo of the martyr and raised anti-China slogans.
Tenzin Tsundue, a Tibetan activist, said the SFF was formed in 1962 when China attacked India. He said the Tibetans were proud of the fact that an Tibetan refugee laid down his life defending the borders of India.
The Tibetans have been demanding that India should adopt a policy of supporting the cause of independence of Tibet. They have been maintaining that only an independent Tibet can resolve the border disputes between India and China.
