Timely, effective resolution of public grievances govt’s priority, says Himachal Minister Negi

Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Public Grievance Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi said the state government was giving the highest priority to the timely and effective resolution of public grievances. He emphasised that the District Public Grievance Redressal Committee served as an important bridge between the people and the administration, enabling the swift resolution of public issues.

Negi was presiding over a meeting of the committee held at Vipasha Sadan in Mandi yesterday. During the meeting, matters raised by non-official members were discussed in detail. The minister directed officials of the departments concerned to address issues related to public interest with seriousness and ensure their early resolution.

He said members of the committee were working with dedication to resolve problems faced by people in their respective areas. He instructed officials and employees to listen to genuine grievances carefully and take necessary action. Referring to cases under the Forest Rights Act, he directed the committees concerned to ensure their timely disposal and asked departments to strictly follow the rules while spreading awareness among the public about the provisions of the Act.

During discussions on issues related to National Highway-03, Negi directed officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to complete the construction work within the stipulated timeframe. He also asked them to ensure prompt and mutually acceptable solutions to problems faced by local residents during construction. He instructed that adequate machinery and manpower be deployed for ongoing work under various packages on the Mandi-Kotli-Dharampur stretch of the highway. He further stressed that compensation should be provided as per rules for any damage caused to public or private property during construction.

The minister also issued directions regarding proper maintenance of HT power lines in Ludhiana village of Dharampur and asked the National Highways Authority of India to construct a cremation ground near Bhadyal village.

He directed the Public Works Department to reopen the road from Mani to the Scheduled Caste settlement of Shegli by March 31. The Jal Shakti Department was asked to complete the irrigation pipeline work from Khadend to Masheran.

Negi also instructed the police administration to deploy additional personnel for traffic regulation at Gandhi Chowk market in Mandi during school hours.

Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar thanked the minister and said more than 100 cases were meaningfully discussed during the meeting.
