Tree falls on track in Solan, train halted for an hour

Tribune News Service

Solan, August 5

The Shimla-Kalka railway line was blocked for nearly an hour after a tree fell on it around 5.45 pm here today. Locals helped the Railways staff to remove the fallen tree from the track.

The train halted soon after crossing a tunnel at Solan due to the fallen tree, said an official. It was the only train running on the Shimla-Kalka route at that time and it resumed its onward journey after about an hour.

This was the second such incident in as many days. All trains on this world heritage track were cancelled yesterday after a large amount of debris and boulders fell on it at Patta Mor between Dharampur and Kumarhatti. At least four such incidents had occurred this monsoon season.
