Tributes paid to rifleman on 4th martyrdom anniversary in Himachal's Bilaspur
On February 9, 2022, rifleman Ankesh Bhardwaj, while on duty in the northeastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, made the supreme sacrifice for the nation
The fourth anniversary of martyr Ankesh Bhardwaj was commemorated with great honour by ex-servicemen. The ceremony was led by the Commanding Officer of 1 JAK RIF at his native village Seu in the Ghumarwin subdivision of Bilaspur district on Monday. A contingent of his parent regiment also laid a wreath.
On February 9, 2022, rifleman Ankesh Bhardwaj, while on active duty in the northeastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. His father Bancha Ram and mother Kashmiri Devi commemorate the martyrdom of their son every year on this day and invite ex-servicemen and Veer Naris of the area to pay tribute.
Bancha Ram said that the loss of his son had left a void in the family, but his sacrifice had brought not only honour but also pride to them.
Squadron Leader Monica Sharma (Retd), who presided over the function, said that many people contribute to national security while serving in the defence forces, but there is nothing greater than sacrificing one’s life for the nation. She added that the country would remain forever indebted to its martyrs.
Ghumarwin SDM Gaurav Chaudhary, who was present on the occasion, said the administration always stands ready to support families of martyrs in every possible way.
Captain Jagdish Verma (Retd), Chairman of the United Front of Ex-Servicemen, Himachal Pradesh, highlighted the valour and sacrifices made by defence personnel from Bilaspur. He added that Sanjay Kumar of the district was decorated with the Param Vir Chakra and was granted the honorary rank of Captain on Republic Day this year, which serves as great motivation for the youth.
Former MLA Rajendra Garg also addressed the gathering. Local school students participated in the event and presented a cultural programme on patriotism.
