The Palampur police arrested two youths and recovered 5.59 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession on Wednesday night. According to the police, the arrests were made on the basis of specific information. A special team of the local police spotted two young men moving under suspicious circumstances near a streetlight at Rodi Khalet in Palampur. The duo was allegedly waiting there to sell the contraband substance.
The police conducted a search and apprehended the accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as Manish Kumar, alias Kaka (23), a resident of Ghuggar village, Ward No. 10, Palampur tehsil; and Manish Kumar (27), a resident of Beed Bagheda, Ward No. 4, Sujanpur tehsil in Hamirpur district. A total of 5.59 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession.
A case has been registered at the Palampur police station under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Further legal proceedings are underway. Kangra SP Ashok Rattan said that the police were committed to continuing with their crackdown against drug trafficking.
